Cybit BlueFinger Maritime Divison to launch Saffire-Online for web-based Worldwide Vessel Tracking

Cybit, the UK's leading online Telematics Service Provider, has announced that its BlueFinger maritime division will launch a new worldwide web-based online vessel tracking service this month. Saffire-Online will for the first time allow shipping companies to combine compliance with IMO Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) regulations with a comprehensive suite of shipping fleet management tools over the web to significantly enhance operational efficiency. Cybit recently announced that the Saffire system has been selected to track the position, direction and speed of each yacht in the Volvo Ocean Race, round the world yachting challenge. This new service marks a significant step forward in Cybit's evolution into a global telematics leader.

Saffire-Online will provide a clear view of every vessel in the fleet and enable full activity and status reports to be easily generated. Fleet managers can quickly acquire location information on each vessel and together with vessel grouping and geo-fencing management facilities, can ensure that all shipments are on-course and on-time. This enables them to identify any exceptional events and then react quickly and effectively. Saffire-Online is fully compatible with Inmarsat-C, D+ (IsatM2M), Iridium, Thuraya and other leading satellite communication systems.

"The new Saffire-Online solution is another example of our leadership in the global telematics industry. It opens up a whole new range of opportunities both for our companies and for commercial shipping organisations," commented Richard Horsman, Cybit's Chief Executive Officer. "For fleet managers in charge of vessels that ship across the globe, the ability to quickly access location and status information is important - not only for commercial reasons, but also to help monitor security. This availability of information will help raise levels of service and create a genuine competitive advantage for shipping companies."

Saffire-Online will automatically provide the necessary reporting to the LRIT International Data Centres and to any other destinations that the ship owner may require, which helps make the submission process less labour-intensive and enable increased effectiveness in other areas.

BlueFinger has provided Vessel Monitoring Systems for over ten years and has become the world leader in the provision of services to Fisheries Authorities. With over 15,000 vessels being tracked every day by BlueFinger's Saffire VMS systems around the world, Saffire-Online will bring BlueFinger's considerable experience in this field to the Commercial Shipping sector.
