Driver Monitoring & Fleet Tracking
Our tracking unit includes a driver identification key reader installed in each vehicle. Each key has a unique identification number that is allocated to a specific driver within our tracking system database. Vehicle Immobilisation The driver identification key reader is linked to a secondary vehicle immobilisation circuit that prevents the vehicle from being started without the presence of the driver identification key. In order to start the vehicle a driver is required to present his unique driver key to the key reader. The unique identification number is recorded by the tracking unit via the key reader and stored until the vehicle is switched off.
The tracking unit includes the unique identification number on every event transaction transmitted to our tracking system database. Once in our system the relevant driver's identity appears on reports and screens so that the driver is always known. Reports such as vehicle log can be generated for a particular vehicle showing all drivers who may have driven the vehicle during the period specified and the times at which it was driven. Conversely the reports can be generated for a particular driver showing all the vehicles that he/she has driven during the period specified and the time at which they were driven.
Measure Vehicle and Driver Performance Driver identification is a particularly powerful facility and can be used to identify road traffic offenders, measure driver performance, check working times and identify a driver's proximity to a specific location.
Driver keys can be allocated specific classes so that they may only start vehicles within that class. This is particularly useful in managing the class of vehicle that a driver is allowed to drive. For example drivers of normal vans would only be given driver keys for that class of vehicle only and they would not be able to start an HGV.
Our customers who are using the driver key functionality have opted to purchase additional keys to provide to contractors, garages and repairers so that drivers are not required to leave their own driver identification keys when their vehicles are in for repair or servicing. This has proven very valuable in identifying traffic offences and identifying misuse of vehicles committed whilst in the custody third parties. Management of Car Pool Systems Many of our customers have implemented a pool car system whereby casual drivers are allocated a unique driver key that can be cross referenced to a pool car logbook once again allowing them to identify the drivers of vehicles at specific times and location by cross reference to the pool car logbook.
