Duty of Care

Mobile workers often have to work alone and in challenging and remote areas. Cybit's vehicle tracking system provides a driver alert button mounted in the cab of the vehicle. Pressing this button activates an immediate notification to our call centre identifying the worker and exact location of the incident. The reasons for these incidents vary but they are mostly assaults during the course of drivers being robbed for their lap-tops or tools. In three instances of medical emergency lives have been saved.

• Fast response to workers in trouble situations and reassurance that help is on the way 
• An optional remote lone worker device allows activation of an alert from a distance of up to 500 meters whilst workers are away from their vehicle. 
  

For vehicles over 3.5 tons the EU Working Time Directive places the onus on fleet operators to implement measures that control driver hours to ensure compliance within the rules. Any contravention is an offence subject to a fine of up to £2,500 per offence. Furthermore, where fatal accidents might occur and drivers are found to be in breach of the directive, charges of corporate manslaughter may be brought against the organisations' executives and unlimited fines against the company.
